A unique educational programme for pupils: between Rouen and Le Havre, the ocean and the seaports are revealed
Science Action Normandie and Le Havre Port Center have joined forces to offer a unique educational experience for pupils from Year 7 to A-level. Available from January to October 2025, this combined programme invites young people to explore two complementary worlds: the ocean, a source of scientific mysteries, and the port of Le Havre, an economic and industrial powerhouse.
A captivating dual immersion: combining science and the local economy
This educational programme combines a visit to the exhibition “Ocean: an extraordinary dive in Normandy” at the Atrium, a regional science discovery centre in Rouen, with a guided tour of Le Havre’s industrial and port area.
• At the Atrium (Rouen): Pupils will delve into the secrets of the ocean through a tour tailored to their school year. Whilst Cycle 3 pupils will take a guided tour, Cycle 4 pupils and sixth-formers will take part in an educational escape game.
• At the LH Port Centre: On board a coach, pupils will discover the port activities within the ZIP: container terminals, logistics zones, the petrochemical sector, and passenger transport infrastructure. A hands-on immersion at the heart of regional, national and international economic dynamics.
A flexible and accessible experience
The programme can take place over a full day or be split into two half-days, depending on the schools’ schedules. At an attractive rate of €250 for 50 pupils, it offers an opportunity to enrich the school curriculum with scientific, environmental and economic topics.
Through this initiative, Science Action Normandie and Le Havre Port Centre are working towards a shared goal: to spark young people’s interest in major issues such as ocean conservation and the workings of port operations. This dual-pronged approach, at the crossroads of science and industry, offers a hands-on and engaging experience that is sure to captivate pupils and teachers alike.
