Climb aboard a Vedettes Baie de Seine boat and enter Port 2000 just as the 1,800 container ships do as they pass through the breakwaters every year.

Get up close to these giants of the seas. Accompanied by a docker, our guide will provide you with all the information about this port, not to mention some anecdotes and interesting stories!

This tour takes place by boat and lasts 1 hour 30 minutes. Departure from the Charles Olsen breakwater. 

Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour begins.

Children’s tour: Little creatures and large ponds

Welcome to the fascinating world of ponds, where hundreds of little creatures are hiding. From the Roi basins to the Citadel, via the Barre basin, the guides from the Natural History Museum will reveal all the secrets of these creatures and explain why they have made their home in these spots. Don’t miss the guide at the LH Port Centre, ready to immerse you in the history of the port and the use of these ponds.

You’ll be amazed when you discover the nursery in the Citadel Basin, where a whole ecosystem unfolds before your eyes. Expect to be amazed by a ‘landing net fishing’ session, during which a few species will be caught so you can admire them before they’re released back into the water.

Get ready for an adventure where nature reveals itself in a whole new light!

The Shapes of the Eure

A former port district, the Eure district is characterised by its docks, warehouses and derelict industrial sites. It has undergone urban transformation but still retains port-related activities, including dry dock maintenance of ships. Dry docks enable these repairs to be carried out. The Eure district has three such facilities, situated close to residential areas and prestigious higher education institutions. On average, 50 ships pass through these dry docks each year.

Stéphane Carpentier, Division Manager at HAROPA Port, invites you to take a close look at these dry docks and explains their operations and technical aspects in detail.

A Summer in the Park – Harfleur

Le Havre Port Centre is stopping off in Harfleur and has two activities on offer so you can explore the port whilst having fun!

The first will put your logic and analytical skills to the test. Whether you’re young or old, the challenges will be just right for getting your cargo safely to port!

The second activity will take you to new heights by transporting you virtually to the harbour master’s office. With a breathtaking view all around you, imagine yourself as harbour master, keeping an eye on the comings and goings of the ships!

6 km on the quayside

The city of Le Havre is characterised by its ever-present quays, which are an integral part of its urban landscape. Take the time during this active walk to discover their history, their roles and their future.

Learn how the city has been built around them, juxtaposing ship repair facilities with the student accommodation complex and offering refurbished shipping containers as housing. But also, how, across an inlet, the quays link the city, the port and its industries. After this three-hour walking tour, you’ll never see the quays in the same light again! Starting from the LH Port Centre at the Citadelle Terminal, you’ll travel back in time to the bow of the ‘France’, then walk past the GAMESA SIEMENS factory, firmly rooted in the present and the future. Along the Quai de la Saône, you’ll be introduced to the A Docks housing estate, the riverside gardens and the dockers’ bell. You’ll then walk through the student accommodation complex and, finally, circle the Citadelle basin.

This tour takes you behind the scenes of film productions and their settings, whilst giving you an insight into port operations. From *Quai des brumes* to *Marie-Line et son juge*, explore the port through a selection of different productions. Discover what goes on behind the scenes and enjoy some behind-the-scenes stories from the film sets.

Marine biodiversity on your doorstep

Embark on an exciting adventure with the Le Havre Natural History Museum and the Le Havre Port Centre, who will guide you along the docks to explore the rich biodiversity found there. Nestled at the mouth of the Seine, the port of Le Havre is home to a rich and astonishing array of flora and fauna, just waiting to be discovered.

This walk will take you from the waters of the Bassin du Roi to the Bassin de la Barre, via the Bassin de la Citadelle. Beyond their history and function, you’ll delve into the lives of the species that inhabit them. You’ll stop off near the innovative Biohut® marine shelters, an initiative aimed at revitalising the Bassin de la Citadelle as a nursery. Since 2021, no fewer than 14 species – from whelks to prawns and mussels – have made their home there! At the Barre basin, you’ll get to know the species that will be caught using a landing net before being released back into the water. 

Get ready to discover the fascinating ecosystem that supports this biodiversity in a balance that is vital to preserve!
