British firm Howden acquires broker Seasecure-Guian

On 6 October, the insurance brokerage group Howden announced the acquisition of the French marine and transport insurance group Seasecure (which itself acquired Le Havre-based Guian in 2018).

The French group, headquartered in Le Havre, works for shipowners, charterers and vessel operators, as well as for all players in the logistics chain, totalling around 2,000 clients.

Seasecure and Guian are among the last remaining French brokers whose business is exclusively dedicated to maritime and transport risk management.

“Guian’s expertise is particularly recognised in the field of insurance for commercial and service vessels, in the inland waterways sector and in the French and international fishing sectors […]; With the acquisition of Seasecure and Guian, Howden is laying the foundations for a marine division set to be a major player in France,” the British group stated in a press release.

Jean BROSSOLLET, who has headed Seasecure since 2008, will take charge of the marine and transport division at Howden France, reporting to Nicolas AUBERT, the group’s CEO.

The Howden Broking Group operates in 90 countries and employs more than 12,000 people worldwide.
