LH Port Centre: Events in May

6 KM AT QUAY

Friday 3 May 2024 at 2.00 pm

Information and registration

The city of Le Havre is characterised by its ever-present quays, which are an integral part of its urban landscape. This active walking tour will allow you to discover their history, their roles and their future.

This tour explains how the city has been built around them, juxtaposing ship repair facilities with the student accommodation complex, and featuring repurposed shipping containers as housing. It also explores how, across an inlet, the quays connect the city, the port and its industries.

This three-hour walking tour, starting from the LH Port Centre, will take you back in time to the ‘Nez du France’, then skirt the Gamesa Siemens factory, firmly rooted in the present and the future.

Along the Quai de la Saône, you’ll then discover the Cité A Docks housing estate, the riverside gardens and the dockers’ bell.

The tour ends at the student complex and the Citadelle basin.
