NATURAL ENVIRONMENT RESEARCH OFFICER

The research officer works on and contributes to projects relating to the conservation, protection and management of natural environments. They monitor studies into the region’s biodiversity whilst taking into account the challenges facing port development and its stakeholders.

Qualities and skills

  • Technical, legal and scientific knowledge of the environment and ecology
  • Proficiency in current environmental regulations

Education and training

Five years of higher education: a degree from an engineering school (Bordeaux Aquitaine National School of Agronomic Sciences / Institut Agro Rennes-Angers or Dijon / AgroParisTech) University Master’s degrees specialising in biodiversity, ecology and evolution / environmental sciences

Sectors and organisations

They may work in the public sector: local authority, inter-municipal body, county council, regional authority. Secondment to a regional nature park is possible. Positions are also available in the private sector, particularly in consultancy firms specialising in ecology or biodiversity, nature conservation organisations, and hunting and fishing federations…
