RENEWABLE ENERGY ENGINEER

Energy engineers develop new processes and improve existing ones for the generation of energy from renewable sources. They work on the economic and technical aspects of wind farms and solar farms, use modelling software and ensure that processes comply with environmental legislation whilst enabling companies to remain competitive.

  • Technical knowledge of electricity, particularly in relation to grid connection
  • Technical skills in calculations, surveying and cartographic projection, and proficiency in cartographic software
  • Knowledge of the regulatory framework relating to their field of activity
  • Proficiency in project management techniques and software
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling software (where required)
  • Proficiency in English

Education and training

Five years of higher education (Bac + 5) Numerous degrees from engineering schools (Centrale, Arts et Métiers, ENS Chemistry, ENS Advanced Technologies, INSA, Polytechnique, IS, Energy and Transport) Master’s degree specialising in energy (DHET) – New Energy Technologies Master’s degree (six years of higher education) Specialised Master’s in Energy and Environmental Efficiency Specialised Master’s in New Energy Technologies

Sectors and organisations

Graduates typically work in research centres, engineering consultancies, and within the research and development departments of large companies.
