On 5 February 2025, UMEP and Haropa Port, with the support of Cybercercle Normandie, welcomed the many participants who had registered for a Cybersecurity Morning Event at the CCI Seine Estuaire premises.

This event brought together stakeholders from the maritime and port sectors to raise awareness and provide information on the crucial challenges of cybersecurity.

The conference began with an introduction by Stéphane Meynet, Senior Advisor at Cybercercle Normandie, on the cybersecurity challenges facing port operators, the evolving nature of threats and relevant European regulations (NIS2, Cyber Resilience Act) and the importance of a collective approach in the face of rising cyberattacks in the maritime sector.

Jérôme BESANCENOT, Digital Transition Project Director at Haropa Port, then outlined the implications for the port ecosystem. Participants were thus able to recognise the need for an appropriate organisational framework for crisis management. He highlighted the existence of the ‘Cybersecure Ports’ best practice guide.

Nicolas Moreau, Digital Security Adviser at the Paris Police Prefecture, discussed the lessons learnt from past experiences, particularly those relating to the 2024 Olympic Games. These highlighted the importance of collaboration and the exceptional measures put in place for that event.

Concrete actions were suggested, such as ongoing training, improving IT security infrastructure within companies, the regular conduct of cyber crisis management exercises, the use and updating of the maritime cybersecurity guide, and the regular checking of information systems, particularly mobile phones. All these measures help to ensure the continuity and resilience of port operations.
