CMA CGM is also fitting a wind deflector to one of its container ships
Last year, the shipping company ONE fitted wind deflectors to two of its large 2,170 TEU container ships: the One Trust and the Tradition.
The French shipping company CMA CGM has now also fitted this equipment to the CMA CGM Marco Polo, a 16,000 TEU vessel.
According to Alpha Liner, the deflector improves the vessel’s performance. Mitsui OSK Lines, one of ONE’s shareholders and the company behind the system, claims it can reduce the vessel’s bunker consumption by up to 4 per cent.
To date, ONE and CMA CGM are the only two companies to have fitted some of their vessels with this system.
