The ecological and social transition of maritime professions was also highlighted through the key issue of increasing the number of women in these roles.

Following the opening ceremony of the third edition of the LH Port Days, on Friday 5 December at 11.30 am, the Maritime and Port Union (UMEP) signed a groundbreaking agreement with WISTA France, the network of women in leadership roles within the maritime sector, even though they still account for only 28 per cent of jobs in the sector (41 per cent in training, 23 per cent in logistics).

Through this commitment, the UMEP has reaffirmed its conviction that the economic development of the maritime and port sector cannot take place without greater consideration of societal issues, particularly gender equality. Women have been recognised as true catalysts for change, whether in terms of technological innovation, the evolution of working cultures or responding to societal challenges.

This highlight, heralding a greener and more equal future, was continued throughout the two days of the exhibition with a major round-table discussion entitled ‘Female Boldness: Innovating for a World on the Move’. This event highlighted the inspiring journeys of committed women and sparked new ambitions among female students, jobseekers and those seeking a career change.

The LH Port Days took place on 5 and 6 December 2025 at the Carré des Docks in Le Havre and brought together numerous stakeholders to discuss the future challenges facing maritime and port professions.
