ORDER PICKER

Using the details on the order form issued by the sales department, the order picker gathers together the products to be delivered to a customer. They prepare and pack them, then hand the order over to the delivery department. They may also process, relabelling, pack or assemble the items, thereby adding value to the goods being transported.

Education and training requirements

The role of order picker is usually accessible with a BEP or CAP qualification, but vocational A-level or BTS qualifications enable faster career progression: BEP in Logistics and Transport CAP in Warehouse and Courier Operations Bac Pro in Logistics BTS in Packaging and Packing Professional qualification as a Warehouse Operator (via the VAE route)

Sectors and organisations

Order pickers can be found within the logistics departments of retail businesses (wholesalers, bookshops, furniture retailers, car dealerships, supermarkets, factories, etc.) and in logistics warehouses.
