ONE Trust in Le Havre: the first container ship fitted with a wind deflector
The container ship ONE Trust, operated by the Japanese shipping company ONE (Ocean Network Express), called at Le Havre on 27 November.
The vessel, one of a series of six 20,170 TEU container ships, is the only one to be fitted with an innovative wind deflector system, which improves its aerodynamics and enables it to reduce its fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
This trial forms part of the energy transition strategy of shipping companies seeking to reduce their fleets’ fuel consumption and emissions.
It also demonstrates the efforts being made by the shipping industry to reduce its carbon footprint.
The One Trust is part of the Asia–Europe service, which positions Haropa as the leading continental port of call for imports and connects Asia to France’s leading port. Handling operations for the vessel took place at the Générale de Manutention Portuaire (GMP) terminal.
