The port community will be attending the Business Event in Lyon on 12 December 2024

UMEP, SeinePort Union and Haropa Port jointly organised a meeting for industry professionals in Lyon on 12 December. Some 80 shippers, manufacturers and transport operators came together to discuss the multimodal solutions and opportunities offered by the Seine Corridor.

Hervé Bonis, President of UMEP and Vice-President of SeinePort Union, and Nathalie Wagner, Chair of UMEP’s Promotion Committee, spoke at the event.

The aim of the meeting was to encourage stakeholders to incorporate rail transport into their logistics plans, thereby facilitating a modal shift whilst supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.

It is worth noting that there are now nine weekly rail services between Le Havre and Lyon. Naviland Cargo offers seven return journeys per week between Haropa Port and the Lyon Vénissieux terminal. And since November 2024, Delta Rail has been offering two rail shuttle services per week between Porte Océane and Lyon, via its hub in Châlon-sur-Saône. These services, operated by DB Cargo France, Delta Rail’s traction provider, serve the Lyon Port Edouard Herriot multimodal terminal.

Delta Rail is thus helping to expand Haropa Port’s hinterland whilst developing new traffic flows, thereby strengthening rail services to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
