SITE MANAGER

The site manager is involved at an operational level in development projects within the industrial and port zone. They oversee construction sites with a wide range of objectives: the construction of a terminal quay, the creation of an access road, and the development of an area intended to accommodate logistics or industrial buildings. Synonyms: Assistant Site Manager, Site Manager, Foreman, Site Supervisor

Educational and training requirements

Post-A-level: Two-year post-A-level qualification (BTS) in Building / Building Envelope: design and construction / Civil Engineering / Site Manager

Bac + 3 BUT in Civil Engineering and Construction or a professional bachelor’s degree specialising in the building and public works sector (building, civil engineering and construction, and public works)

Sectors and companies

Construction and building companies remain the main employers of site managers. In France, site managers can be found in both large companies and very small businesses. They may also be employed in the civil service as civil servants or contract staff within various public administrations or state-owned public bodies such as HAROPA PORT. They may also work in a design office or even in shipbuilding.
